For this month’s milestone photoshoot, I decided to embrace the vibrant spirit of the 4th of July, especially since Maverick would be just four days shy of his seven-month milestone! The combination of this festive theme and his playful nature made the session truly special. Maverick has become more than just my favorite model; he radiates joy and curiosity, which transforms every photoshoot into a delightful adventure. His happiness is contagious, and I find it incredible how his personality shines through in every frame.
However, photographing a baby comes with its own set of challenges. The most important lesson I’ve learned is the necessity of patience. Maverick, like many infants, has an incredibly short attention span—one moment he’s gazing in delightful curiosity at the camera and the next, he’s captivated by the rustling leaves or the sound of a bird chirping nearby. His attention only lasts for a millisecond, so I have to be quick on my feet, ready to capture those fleeting glances that make the best photos.
To summon Maverick’s attention, I transform into quite a silly character! The lengths I go to are often hilarious and quite theatrical. I find myself singing off-key, clapping enthusiastically, and pulling the goofiest faces imaginable. It’s amusing to think about how ridiculous I must look, but the joy these antics bring to Maverick is absolutely rewarding. The cuteness of his little giggles when he catches a glimpse of my silly behavior makes every effort worthwhile. It’s remarkable how a simple act of silliness can momentarily redirect his focus back to the camera, allowing me to capture those perfect moments.
During our 4th of July photoshoot, I dressed Maverick in a festive outfit that matched the holiday. His tiny star-patterned bow tie and adorable sun hat perfectly reflected the celebratory nature of the day. We set up in the backyard where the natural light poured down, providing the ideal backdrop for our patriotic theme. As we began our session, Maverick looked quite perplexed and intrigued at first, wondering what this funny adult was doing in front of him. But as soon as I broke out my silly acts, his eyes sparkled with interest, and I knew we were off to a great start.
Throughout the session, we played peek-a-boo, made silly animal sounds, and I even tried some dance moves that I’m sure he found more entertaining than I did! Each chuckle or curious glance he gave me felt like a small victory, reinforcing my belief that the effort I put into this 4th of July photoshoot was all worth it. The candid moments we captured—his laughter, his curious expression—were priceless and beautifully documented the essence of his personality.
As we wrapped up the 4th of July photoshoot, I felt a sweet wave of nostalgia. It’s hard to believe that I soon need to start planning Maverick’s 8-month photoshoot! I’ve been brainstorming different themes that could capture the joy and essence of summer. Whether it will be something related to summer adventures like beach fun or outdoor play, I aim to make it just as unique and special as our previous sessions. So, stay tuned for what I hope will be an equally delightful photoshoot that showcases even more of Maverick’s shining personality!
