Serena Evelyn is her name, and it suits her just perfectly. Visiting everyone at home for her NJ Lifestyle Photographer shoot shortly after her birth, I fell instantly in love with her charming soul. Of course, her parents are even more in love with her. We had an effortlessly peaceful and lovely newborn session, with plenty of oohing and aahing going on.
Mom had a clear vision of what she wanted the first family photos to look like. With a gorgeous Pinterest board of natural lifestyle images, I quickly understood the aesthetic she was going for. It’s always a wonderful idea to gather images to share with me as inspiration before a photo shoot. We started with photos in Serena’s stylish nursery, which includes her name on the wall. Mom and Dad cradled their new love in their arms as she slept. We had a few outfit changes, and Serena was so sleepy she barely stirred. She wore a floral headband, and we wrapped her in a lightweight cloth swaddle. Those organic, neutral tones that match the outfits worn by her parents look so nice in the photos. Then we took some of dad and baby and mom and baby. Showing Mum’s luxurious locks as she lay on the bed with her newborn snuggled up so cozily, I knew we had the best collection of images possible.
Hands up, who thinks baby Serena looks like her father? For sure, you can see some resemblance even at this very early age.
If you read part one of this post, you will know Serena’s parents are good friends of baby Emma’s parents, who were also featured on the blog. It’s easy to imagine they will grow up together being besties with epic play dates, school days that turn into years, birthday parties, and other milestone celebrations. I’m hoping I get to photograph some of that joy too!
